The photos are the best ones from the photo contest held by Central Commission for Publicity and Education; Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and Viet Nam Association for Photography Artist.

“Sea and island are attached to Vietnamese people from thousands of generations,” said the commission’s deputy head Bui Truong Giang at the exhibition opening ceremony.

“The sea is not only the space for living and development but also is a sacred space of ours. The sea plays a very important role and position, intimately and greatly influences on socio-economic development ensuring national security, defence, independence and sovereignty.”

Giang also said that the photos successfully show the beauty of nature and people in the Vietnamese seas and islands through daily moments; daily life; customs, and culture of Vietnamese people in coastal and the islands region.

Many photos depict vividly life of Vietnamese navy soldiers who are always ready to protect Vietnamese sea and islands sovereignty.

The exhibition is held with a view to popular, introduce and promote the position, role and potential of Vietnamese sea and islands to the public.

The organisation board also hopes that the exhibition will make contribution to strengthening the education and further improving the patriotism, national pride and the sense of responsibility for protecting the sea and the islands of every Vietnamese.

Hoa Lu Citadel in Ninh Binh Province is a popular destination with both historical and cultural sites including palaces and temples dedicated to Dinh and Le Kings.

The organisers hope and believe that the heroic memories of the historic tradition in the past and the dynamic development today of the province to inspire the exhibition viewers to get to know more about history of Vietnamese sea and islands.

After Ninh Binh, the exhibition will be held in Hue City in central province of Thua Thien Hue and HCM City.
