VietNamNet Bridge – Nguyen Quoc Oai, 60, former director of the Hanoi-based Post Office Hospital, has been arrested for making false documents to appropriate over VND66 billion ($3.3 million) of the Vietnam Post and Telecommunications Group (VNPT).

According to the police, in the past few years, Oai directed some employees to make false documents to raise the number of patients treated at the Post Office Hospital to take more than VND66 million from the VNPT.
The money was shared with the hospital’s staff and to purchase equipment.
In addition, some employees of the Picture-Aided Diagnosis Ward also made false documents to appropriate over VND1.39 billion ($60,000). The money was shared with the staff of this ward.
The corruption was denounced and these people had to repay the money. Through this case, the police detected the VND6 billion embezzlement case.
The later case is under investigation.
The Post Office Hospital is a public hospital, funded by the VNPT and is under the Ministry of Information and Communications.
