Former Moscow mayor Yuri Luzhkov sacked by President Dimitry Medvedev in September received three million rubles (97,770 U.S. dollars) as dismissal pay, Russian media reported Friday citing the Komsomolskaya Pravda daily.

The one-time payout was granted to Luzhkov as to a retired official but not a sacked one, wrote the daily.

Lushkov had been holding his post for 18 years but dismissed as the president "loss of confidence" in him. Following his dismissal he took the job of a dean in a Moscow International University faculty for symbolic salary of one ruble (0.03 dollars).

"According to the law of Moscow a retired official is being paid a compensation when he retires on a pension," quoted the daily an official source from Moscow administration.

Depending on the post hold and lengths of service the sum could reach three, five but no more then 10 rates of wage.

Recent reports showed the mayor's salary was some 300,000 rubles (10, 000 dollars). That means he received the highest dismissal pay taking into consideration all the benefits, wage premiums awards for special working conditions.

So far, some local reports said the sum received goes in no comparison with the actual income Luzhkov had while in the office.
