VietNamNet Bridge – Midfielder Huy Hoang, a former member of the national football team, has been fined VND6.8 million (nearly $300) for driving when being drunk and causing an accident.

On September 19, Lieutenant Colonel My Duy Xuan, head of the Traffic Police Team of Thanh Hoa City, said that Huy Hoang was fined for three errors: being drunk when driving a car; passing other vehicles in the wrong way; and not maintaining the scene after causing accident.

After solving the case, the police returned the car to Huy Hoang. They also noticed Huy Hoang’s violations to the local government which is his residence and his Song Lam Nghe An football club.

On the afternoon of September 7, after causing a traffic accident that injured a woman, Huy Hoang fled and was intercepted by local people in Ba Trieu Street, Thanh Hoa city.

Police asked him to get out of the car but Huy Hoang still lied in his chair, closed his eyes and swung his body.

On September 8, Huy Hoang met with Thanh Hoa city police. Hoang affirmed that he was drunk so he did not know what happened, until he was stopped by the people he sobered up and knew that he had caused the accident.

Meanwhile, Major Nguyen Ngoc Anh who was assigned to drive Huy Hoang’s car to the police station said: "He did not smell of alcohol, but wobbled very strangely."

Although performing no alcohol or drug test, the Thanh Hoa police concluded that Huy Hoang’s strange acts were caused by drunkenness.
