A burial service for former President General Le Duc Anh was held at Ho Chi Minh City’s cemetery on May 3.

 

 

Attending the ceremony were Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc, former Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung, National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan, head of the Party Central Committee’s Organisation Commission Pham Minh Chinh, head of the Party Central Committee’s Information and Education Commission Vo Van Thuong, Permanent Deputy Prime Minister Truong Hoa Binh, Secretary of the HCM City Party Committee Nguyen Thien Nhan, President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee Tran Thanh Man, Vice President Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh, leaders and former leaders of the Party and State, HCM City’s leaders, representatives from people’s armed forces, revolutionary veterans and people from walks of life.

Leaders and former leaders of the Party, State, Vietnam Fatherland Front, comrades, compatriots, and the family of the former President observed a one-minute silence to pay their last respect to him.

On behalf of the funeral organising board and the former President’s family, Permanent Deputy Prime Minister Truong Hoa Binh expressed thanks to mourners for their condolences and attendance at the respect-paying ceremonies, the memorial service, and the burial ceremony of General Le Duc Anh.

General Le Duc Anh, who served as President of Vietnam from September 1992 to December 1997, passed away on April 22 at the age of 99.

Vietnam has declared two days of national mourning for him on May 3 and 4.

The Funeral Board and the family of former President General Le Duc Anh expressed thanks following the burial service for him in Ho Chi Minh City on May 3.

The following is the message in full:

“The Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, the National Assembly of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, the President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, the Government of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, the Funeral Board, and the family of General Le Duc Anh wish to express sincere thanks to:

- Compatriots, comrades;
- Revolutionary veterans;
- Intelligentsia, religious dignitaries;
- Agencies, organisations, localities, units;
- The people’s armed forces;
- The Party organisations, administrations, and people of Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, and Thua Thien-Hue province;
- Diplomatic corps, representatives of international organsations, and international friends;

For sending condolence messages and wreaths, as well as attending the respect-paying ceremonies, memorial service, and burial ceremony of General Le Duc Anh, former member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, former President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, and former advisor to the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam.”
