VietNamNet Bridge – Kon Tum provincial police are searching for four men who escaped from a detention centre through its ventilation system.

The four men had been in the custody house in Dak To District while police were investigating their alleged crimes, before escaping on March 22, Bảo vệ pháp luật (Protection of law) online newspaper reported.

According to police in Dak To, the men accused used hacksaws to cut the iron bars of the jail ventilation system to escape.

The accused include Pham Van Son, 43, of Hai Duong Province. He has eight criminal convictions for various charges, including theft.

He is currently serving a prison sentence at Thu Duc prison and was sent to custody house in Dak To by local police for investigation of a theft.

His fellow escapee Phan Tuong Vinh, 28, of Dien Binh Commune, Dak To District, was detained to investigate theft.

The other two fugitives, A Men, 19, and A The, 25, residing in Van Lem Commune, Dak To District, were detained to investigate sex crimes.

After checking the scene, police seized three hacksaws in the defendants’ room.

Police and investigation agencies are hunting down the escapees.
