Four talented classical artists from Germany, the UK and the U.S. will join chamber concerts in HCMC on August 11 and Danang on August 21.
The concerts, as part of Saigon Chamber Concert Festival held by Transposition Programme, HCMC Conservatory of Music and Goethe Institut Vietnam, will feature German pianist Antonia Köster, German violinist Sindri Lederer, British cellist Zoë Martlew and American violist Juliet White-Smith.
The artists will play Georg Philipp Telemann’s Sonata Polonese No. 1 in A minor, Johannes Brahms’ Violin Sonata No. 3 in D minor op. 108 and V. Bond’s Jasmine Flower during the first half of the show. Piano Quartet Op 47 by Robert Schumann, Requiebros by Gaspar Cassado and Salut d’Amour by Edward Elgar will be performed during the second part.
Pianist Antonia Köster was a student of Kalle Randalu at the University of Music Karlsruhe and completed her Master’s degree under the supervision of Ian Fountain at the Royal Academy of Music in London. She already cooperated with numerous musicians like pianist Elisabeth Leonskaja and French pianist Pascal Devoyon.
Violinist Sindri Lederer finished his studies under the guidance of Christoph Schickedanz at the University of Music Hamburg and under Uwe-Martin Haiberg at the Berlin University of Arts. He gained further musical insights through renowned musicians like pianist Menahem Pressler and Emanuel Ax, and cellist/conductor David Geringas.
Cellist Zoë Martlew is the artistical director of the Saigon Chamber Music Festival. Not only as a soloist but also with famous ensembles of contemporary music like London Sinfonietta, Ensemble Modern and Birmingham Contemporary, she has performed around the world. Besides contemporary music, Zoë Martlew is interested in other art forms like improvisation or theatre and covers a wide spectrum from electronica and pop to rock.
Viola player Juliet White-Smith is both a soloist and part of several chamber music ensembles. Her musical career led her to play with famous artists like violinist Andres Cardenes and Benny Kim, pianist Gilbert Kalish, the Merling Trio and the Da Vinci Quartet.
For the concert in HCMC, tickets costing VND300,000 and VND250,000 per person are available at the HCMC Conservatory of Music, 112 Nguyen Du Street, District 1.
