People gather at the house where the accident occurred

According to reports from local authorities, the tragic accident occured at around 8am at the house of Nguyen Van Hai in Thuy Nguyen District.

Rescue teams arrived and found three bodies of Hai's wife, who is 50, their 31-year-old daughter and four-year-old granddaughter. Hai and his 31-year-old son-in-law were seriously injured and were rushed to hospital but the son died at hospital.

Thuy Nguyen District Police are further investigating the cause of the explosion.

On August 12, a fire at a gas cylinder store in Lao Cai Province's Sapa Town completely destroyed three houses. Luckily no casualties were reported.
