VietNamNet Bridge – A man and his three children were burned to death about 11pm yesterday (Sept 13) after he set fire to his own home in Tan Bien Town in Tay Ninh Province.

Chairman of Tan Bien District People's Committee Nguyen Van Thong said Tam, the father of the children, was a former resident of Thanh Tay Commune in Tan Bien District.

As the three children, aged between four and 12 years, lay sleeping, Tam locked the house's door, poured petrol and set fire to his own house, killing himself and his children.

Tam's neighbours said that a day before the incident, Tam and his wife had quarrelled with each other, after which she left the house.

Tam had taken his family to Tan Bien Town several months ago and had rented a house. The couple had worked as casual labourers during the day to make ends meet.

After the incident, the provincial police cordoned off the scene to investigate the matter.
