Animals Asia Viet Nam confirmed on Tuesday that four more bears have died in one of the bear farms in Quang Ninh Province.
According to Animals Asia Viet Nam, the bears belonged to the farm owned by Nguyen Trong Bo of Dai Yen Ward of Ha Long City.
The bears reportedly died of starvation and severe injuries. Animals Asia said the owner had violated regulations related to the care of bears.
Bo had 27 bears at the end of November 2014. Only one bear is now surviving, and that too in a critical condition.
Tuan Bendixsen, a representative of Animals Asia, said the organisation has sent an official document to the People's Committee of Quang Ninh Province, asking for the shifting of the surviving bear at Bo's farm to the Bear Rescue Centre.
Bendixsen said the farm owner was not capable of taking care of the bear.
He also called on authorities in other areas to support the transfer of bears in critical condition to the Bear Rescue Centre in Tam Dao, Vinh Phuc Province.
