A representative of Tuyen Quang Provincial Police said Tran Thi Thu Hang, vice principal of Nguyen Van Huyen High School, has been prosecuted over alleged violations linked to unusually high mathematics scores recorded at the examination site of Tuyen Quang High School for the Gifted.
On the afternoon of July 9, during a press briefing on the investigation into unusual mathematics examination results at Tuyen Quang High School for the Gifted, Colonel Tran Anh Tuan announced that authorities had prosecuted four suspects.
According to Colonel Tran Anh Tuan, investigators have charged Tran Thi Thu Hang with lack of responsibility causing serious consequences.
Earlier, police also prosecuted and detained Nguyen Ha Duy, 28, a mathematics teacher at Tuyen Quang High School for the Gifted who served as secretary of the examination site, on allegations of abusing official position and authority while performing public duties.
Authorities have also charged two additional suspects, although their identities have not yet been made public.
Colonel Tran Anh Tuan said Tran Thi Thu Hang served as chief supervisor of the examination site at Tuyen Quang High School for the Gifted.
As the official responsible for overseeing all activities at the examination site and ensuring the national high school graduation examination was conducted objectively, fairly and in accordance with regulations, investigators allege that she instructed and guided several invigilators to facilitate candidates during the mathematics examination in ways that violated examination rules.
According to investigators, following Hang's instructions, Nguyen Ha Duy entered examination rooms in his capacity as examination-site secretary and directly guided several candidates while they were taking the mathematics test.
Police allege that the actions of the suspects seriously violated the regulations governing Vietnam's national high school graduation examination, undermining the examination's objectivity, fairness and transparency while generating widespread public concern.

Earlier, on the morning of July 1, after Vietnam's Ministry of Education and Training released the national high school graduation examination results, statistical data revealed an unusually high concentration of outstanding scores across several subjects among candidates at the Tuyen Quang High School for the Gifted examination site, particularly in mathematics.
The examination site recorded more than 140 perfect scores in mathematics, accounting for more than 95 percent of all perfect mathematics scores awarded across Tuyen Quang Province.
The remaining perfect scores were scattered among candidates from other examination sites, including only three students from Ha Giang High School for the Gifted who achieved full marks in mathematics.
On July 3, the Ministry of Education and Training announced that its review had identified irregularities in Tuyen Quang Province's mathematics examination results that required further verification.
Provincial police subsequently coordinated with the education sector and other relevant authorities to review, inspect and investigate the case.
