Vietnam were crowned regional champions on December 15 in Hanoi after beating Malaysia 3-2 on aggregate in the final.
Dang Van Lam who kept a sheet clean in all four group stage matches and conceded only four goals overall was picked as the team’s goalkeeper.
Tran Dinh Trong who played the final with a leg injury, was one of the team’s central defenders, thanks to his key role in Vietnam’s solid defence.
The left back position went to Doan Van Hau, who bombed up and down the flank tirelessly throughout the tournament.
The AFF Cup’s most valuable player Nguyen Quang Hai was an easy choice for the central midfielder spot.
Runners-up Malaysia also contributed four players, while Thailand, the Philippines and Myanmar had one each.
At the same time, Fox Sports Asia revealed the results of their Fans’ Choice Best XI in which there were eight Vietnamese. Apart from Hai, Lam and Hau like the AFF Cup’s list, there were also right winger Nguyen Cong Phuong, left winger Phan Van Duc, striker Nguyen Anh Duc, centre back Que Ngoc Hai and right back Nguyen Trong Hoang.
Park Hang-seo was voted as the fans’ best coach.
