Trinh Phuong Tram, director of the Nghe An Electricity Company, said on Wednesday that the accident happened in the Ha Son Commune of Quy Hop District at 5.30pm on Tuesday.

A group of seven people was hired by Nghe An-based Viettel Group to install pylons for telecommunications cables.

Preliminary findings showed that four workers were believed to have been electrocuted by a 35KV line after they violated safe distance rules while installing the pylons, Tram said.

Locals tried to rescue the workers, but they did not survive.

All four of the victims were from Ha Son Commune.

They were identified as 34-year-old local cadastral officer Truong Van Tuan and manual workers Bui Van Ty, Truong Van Quan, and Truong Van Toan, aged 32 to 41.
