FPT has officially joined a global strategic alliance on 6G development, opening up new opportunities across its key focus areas such as intelligent transportation, autonomous UAV systems, smart manufacturing and advanced digital technologies.
As artificial intelligence advances rapidly alongside high-performance computing, quantum computing and large language models, 6G is emerging as a central intelligence layer that unifies connectivity, wide-area sensing and high-performance computing into an AI-native platform.
The alliance, initiated by Qualcomm, brings together leading global technology and telecommunications corporations to establish a milestone-driven roadmap aimed at developing and commercializing AI-native 6G networks by 2029. These networks are designed with intrinsic, trustworthy AI capabilities at their core.
Under this vision, 6G is defined as an AI-native platform integrating three foundational technology pillars: connectivity, wide-area sensing and high-performance computing.
The future 6G ecosystem is expected to usher in a new generation of intelligent networks featuring integrated sensing radio, virtualized Radio Access Networks, AI-driven operational automation and edge and cloud data centers capable of handling next-generation AI workloads and massive computational demands.
This platform is viewed as the springboard for breakthroughs in telecommunications services, next-generation smart devices and advanced digital business models.
Speaking on FPT’s participation, Truong Gia Binh, Chairman of FPT, emphasized that in a world where AI, advanced computing and emerging technologies such as quantum computing and large language models are rapidly converging, 6G stands out as a central intelligence layer that merges connectivity, wide-area sensing and high-performance computing into an AI-native foundation.
“In this era, the speed of innovation is decisive, and collaboration is a core pillar of FPT’s strategy. Qualcomm, FPT and other technology corporations within the alliance will work together to advance 6G development. Joining this alliance will also strengthen FPT’s ability to transform advanced technologies into practical value for customers across industries, regions and markets, while enhancing capabilities in strategic domains such as intelligent transportation, autonomous UAV systems, smart manufacturing and advanced digital technologies. Our goal is to create sustainable value for a safer, smarter and more adaptive world,” he said.
Cristiano Amon, President and CEO of Qualcomm, noted that 6G is not merely the next step in wireless evolution but the foundation of an AI-native future, where intelligence is distributed seamlessly from devices to the network edge and cloud, transforming infrastructure providers into AI-driven enterprises.
As a leader across multiple generations of global wireless innovation, Qualcomm brings deep expertise and comprehensive capabilities in developing and commercializing 6G. Like previous wireless transitions, success will depend on sustained collaboration, shared purpose and co-innovation. Leading industry players are committed to investing and innovating together to realize a common 6G vision, with commercial deployment targeted from 2029 onward.
The alliance focuses on comprehensive development across devices, networks and cloud infrastructure. Key objectives include advancing 6G standardization, conducting early system validation, demonstrating pre-commercial devices and networks by 2028, establishing industry-wide 6G readiness benchmarks and deploying globally interoperable commercial 6G systems by 2029.
FPT’s participation in the global 6G alliance not only reinforces its growing position within the global high-tech value chain but also expands its capabilities in research and development, deployment and commercialization of next-generation core technologies.
Through this move, FPT continues to realize its strategic ambition of mastering technology and positioning itself at the center of Vietnam’s technology map, contributing actively to national digital transformation and the building of a sustainable digital economy and digital society.
