Under the deal, the subsidiary of FPT Group will develop an SAP system for UPG to better manage production, sales, warehouse, inventory and a smart reporting system within seven months. The ERP project will be implemented at UPG’s headquarters, factory and five branches in Myanmar and an affiliate in Singapore.

UPG is one of the biggest private groups in Myanmar with more than 600 employees and a network of distribution centers and sales agents across Myanmar.

FPT IS needed more than five months to prepare for bidding documents and finally defeated competitors from Myanmar, Singapore and the Philippines to win the first ERP project in that country.

Pham Minh Tuan, general director of FPT IS, said besides the project for UPG, the company is involved in a number of telecom projects in Myanmar. The company posted sales of US$26.4 million from 14 projects in foreign markets, including Bangladesh, Cambodia, Myanmar, Singapore and the Philippines.

Myanmar is regarded as an emerging market in Southeast Asia and offering businesses opportunities like Vietnam two decades ago. FPT Myanmar was established in 2013.
