With 24 minutes into the match, Thiney capitalized on a positional error to nod home unmarked from inside penalty area. Almost 15 minutes into second half, she doubled the lead by slotting home into the top right to smooth the way for the victory.
As Canada remained absolutely incapable to threat French defence, France midfielder Camile Abily and striker Elodie Thomis sealed the deal to win in a blow out.
In the third match day of group A, France faces host and defending champion Germany and Canada encounters Nigeria.
