VietNamNet Bridge – The Challenge Cup organizing committee in France, the gymnastics tournament that gathers the world's top athletes, has invited Vietnamese male gymnast Nguyen Ha Thanh to participate in the event.

Nguyen Ha Thanh, who is in the same name with the Vietnamese "fitness queen" Phan Thi Ha Thanh, will compete at the Challenge Cup on March 16-17 in Vendespace City.

The tournament will attract international-class athletes around the world. This is the second tournament of the 2013 season. Earlier, the World Cup is the first tournament of the year, which took place on March 2 in Worcester, USA.

To get the invitation to this tournament, Nguyen Ha Thanh had a very successful season last year and for the first he was selected by sports journalists to be one of the top 10 athletes of the year. Last year he won one gold and one silver medal at the Challenge Cup and one silver and one bronze medal at the Asian Championships.

Among male athletes in the Vietnamese national gymnastics team, Ha Thanh is the best for parallel bars and pommel horse.

The Challenge Cup organizers will cover the entire cost of the trip for Ha Thanh. After this tournament, Thanh will go to Germany for the second Challenge Cup from March 21 to 24.

Meanwhile, female gymnast Phan Thi Ha Thanh who was the best athlete of Vietnam for the two consecutive years 2011-2012 will attend the 3rd Challenge Cup from March 27 to 29 in Doha, Qatar.

This year, Vietnam’s gymnastics has got sad news when gymnastics was excluded from the 27th SEA Games later this year in Myanmar. This means that the gymnastics team of Vietnam will lose the opportunity to defend its 11 gold medals at the 26th SEA Games in 2011.

In return, the team will send its members to major world tournaments, including the World Championships in Belgium this September.
