VietNamNet Bridge - The JF Garage Concert, “J-Music for Brass Band,” performed by the Hanoi Brass Band will be held by the Japan Foundation Center for Cultural Exchange at 27 Quang Trung St in Hanoi on June 13.
The Hanoi Brass Band was formed in 1998 when the original members were students of the Hanoi Conservatory of Music (the present Vietnam National Academy of Music). In 2008, the band was officially named Hanoi Brass Band with some changes of members.
The band consists of six professional musicians from Vietnam National Symphony Orchestra, Military University of Culture and Arts, and the Brass Ensemble of Department of Public Security: Kim Xuan Hieu (Horn) as the bandleader, Tran Hien (Trombone), Le Minh Chieu (Tuba), Nguyen Thanh Hai (Trumpet), Pham Van Hieu (Trumpet) and Nghiem Manh Tuan (Drums).
All members are highly capable of conveying nuances of diverse music. Pham Van Hieu, supported by the Japan Foundation, just took an intensive training at NHK Symphony Orchestra in Tokyo in December 2012.
In this concert, the Hanoi Brass Band will play world masterpieces, and as one of the highlights of the concert, they will play Japanese popular songs in an original style and arrangement, such as “Aikagi [Spare Key]” by Mayumi Itsuwa, “Recover Decoration” by Kosaki Onodera (voiced by Kana Hanazawa) from the TV animation program, and “Sakura Sake [Cherry Blossoms, Bloom]” by Tanimoto Shin.
Admission is free.
