Accordingly, Chairman of the People’s Committee of Thua Thien-Hue province Phan Ngoc Tho has asked the Hue Monuments Conservation Center to implement this decision to celebrate Women's Day on March 8.

The local authorities also encourage women in the province to wear Ao dai during March, aiming at preserving and promoting Vietnamese traditional dress as well as spreading pride and love on Ao Dai.

Hue city was Vietnam’s capital during the Nguyen Dynasty from 1802 to 1945. Its imperial relic site was listed as a World Cultural Heritage by UNESCO in 1993.
