French dancing artist Alexis Jestin will host a two-session contemporary dance workshop at Kinergie Studio in Hanoi on December 16.

Alexis Jestin will introduce ways to gain knowledge and self-awareness through the body, discover flexibility and agility while lightening the senses and imagination, and raise awareness of physical weaknesses and improve them though instinctive movements.

In session one, taking place from 9:30 a.m. to mid-noon, participants will get to know how to discover the relationship between their inner volumes and space. Through this process, they will develop a deep exploration of self-awareness through the body and slowly create a common connection between moods and energies.

The second session, from 2-4 p.m, will start with a long process of improvisation, during which participants connect their different tastes, movement and territories to the personal sensations and emotions. They will use some instant choreographic tools to put all their explorations and spontaneous experiences during the session on a coherent space to create a draft.

According to Kinergie Studio, Alexis Jestin has had over 12 years of experience as a professional contemporary dancer, assistant and pedagogue working and collaborating with the internationally known choreographer Emanuel Gat and artists such as Angelo Llacono, Frederique Celle, Moritz Ostruschnjak and Irad Mazliah.

He is currently teaching at the National Center of Contemporary Dance in Angers, France and directing the rehearsals at the Warsaw Dance Department in Poland.

Kinergie Studio is a dance studio founded by dancers Do Hoang Thi Ngoc and Long Sleepy with an aim to bring contemporary dance and ballet closer to the community. Being not only an address for community to learn and exchange passion of performing arts, Kinergie Studio is also a nurturing space for young artists with creative and daring projects and artistic vision.

The workshop will be conducted in Vietnamese and English. Tickets for both sessions of the workshop are VND400,000 per person and VND300,000 for current students of Kinergie Studio.
