Professor Do Van Dai, the only full professor at HCM City University of Law, receives France’s Knight of the Academic Palms.

The award, presented by French Ambassador Olivier Brochet on behalf of the French Prime Minister, recognizes Professor Dai’s outstanding contributions to strengthening legal cooperation between France and Vietnam.

His efforts have helped deepen academic and professional exchanges between legal practitioners, scholars, and students, fostering a vibrant Francophone legal community in Vietnam.

Born in 1974, Do Van Dai earned his Bachelor's (1999), Master's (2000), and Doctorate in Law (2004) from Aix-Marseille III University in France. After years of study, research, and teaching abroad, he returned to Vietnam in 2007 and joined the HCM City University of Law.

In 2011, he was named Associate Professor, and in 2021, promoted to full Professor - currently the only faculty member at the university holding that title.

In 2008, he was appointed Head of the Civil Law Department. By 2011, he was acting Dean of the Civil Law Faculty and officially became Dean in 2012. After two terms, he was entrusted in 2022 with leading the Vietnamese Journal of Legal Science and is now serving as the university’s Vice Rector.

Professor Dai’s work has shaped not only legal education in Vietnam but also the broader landscape of international legal collaboration, with a particular focus on French-Vietnamese ties.
