From Can Tho to HCM City is being organised by the French Institute in HCM City and the university.
A release from the institute says: "Viet Nam's discovery is a revelation to him. He was seduced by the lively images along the Mekong, a fascinating and disturbing land that gives life to inhabitants on its banks.
"Pillard transposes on canvas the emotions he felt during his travels, and, with his sensitivity, shows us landscapes where homes are predominant.
"Homes located on the outskirts of HCM City are his source of deep inspiration."
Pillard, who graduated from the Casa de Velazquez in Madrid, was a professor at the renowned public art and design university Ecole Nationale Superieure des Arts Decoratifs in Paris for 37 years.
His commitment to the arts and culture has been honoured with a Knight Rank of Arts and Letters from the French Minister of Culture.
He has exhibited in Russia, South Korea, and Japan and lectured in Viet Nam and China.
