VietNamNet Bridge - "VND30,000/one unit, VND50,000/two units, VND100,000/4 units” are the familiar words of David Cohen, a 32-year-old Frenchman who sells toys at the gate of primary schools in Hanoi.

David has been in Vietnam for eight years. He is the only foreigner who owns a stall at the Hanoi Old Quarter night market.

"This is just one of my jobs. I used to work as a marketing officer, a costume designer, a chef, and a secondhand clothing trader. I work on the sidewalk because I want to earn more money and I love it," he said.

Many passers-by, especially children, are very surprised and excited to see a tall foreign man selling toys, with a big smile on his face and advertising his goods in Vietnamese.

David Cohen started selling children's toys on the pavement over one year ago. He usually sells toys in front of primary schools in Hanoi.

David’s toys are priced between VND10,000-VND30,000/item. Most plastic toys are sourced from Dong Xuan market. David also makes toys, for example puppets, which are priced at VND30,000. The more customers buy, the lower the price. Children like the toys sold by David.
