Despite their sky-high price, the curvy trees quickly caught attention from the public. This set of two 2.3 metre high trees is asked for VND45 million (US$1,900). Their shape means wealth and prosperity for the new year.
The grower of the bonsai, Nguyen Kim Thang from Hoai Duc District, said the kumquat trees would have an average life span of eight years.
He spent the first five years for caring for the bonsai and forming their shape.
