Samsung has introduced an update to its Quick Share feature on the Galaxy S26 lineup, adding the ability to interact with Apple’s AirDrop system.
The change allows wireless file transfers between nearby Samsung and Apple devices to take place more seamlessly.
The update begins rolling out in South Korea from March 23, followed by the US later this week, before expanding to Europe, Southeast Asia, North America and other markets. In the initial phase, the feature is available only on the Galaxy S26 generation.
A Samsung representative said the company plans to extend support to other Galaxy devices in the near future, aiming to improve cross-platform compatibility across operating systems.
To activate the feature, users need to access Settings, select Connected Devices, enable Quick Share, and turn on the option “Share with Apple Devices.”
This development marks a notable step forward, though it is not the first time Android has opened up to Apple’s sharing protocol. In November 2025, Google took the lead by bringing AirDrop compatibility to its Pixel 10 lineup.
At the time, Eric Kay, Vice President of Engineering for Android at Google, said the company would expand this integrated platform to more devices in 2026. The core goal is to make it easier for iPhone users to switch to Android while retaining all their data from previous devices.
Other technology players, including Nothing and hardware platform Qualcomm, have also expressed interest in bringing AirDrop compatibility to their devices.
