Nguyen Tu is managing director of Vinamation, a HCMC-based company specializing in making special effects for Hollywood movies. Tu has been a lecturer of 3D design and game production at RMIT Vietnam during the past 10 years.

As a man who has a great passion for games, Tu owns a collection of over 1,500 superheroes and special characters. Thus, he has nurtured his ambition to design and produce a game for Vietnam.

Tu said in a statement that he wishes to turn characters in Vietnam’s history and folk tales into real models for the game. However, it is hard to find a Vietnamese manufacturer to produce small models for games with high standard details.

“It takes me two years to find a manufacturer and to produce samples. Recently, I have found a company specializing in making products for export to Japan. The company, based in Tan Duc Industrial Park in the Mekong Delta province of Long An, has a production line that is able to make meticulous and precise details. Thus, I am able to launch the first game collection named Son Tinh - Thuy Tinh in December 2016,” he says in the statement.

The game is part of a collection named Van Tich (tens of thousands of stories) consisting of five characters Hung King, Mi Chau, Son Tinh, Thuy Tinh and a sacred horse accompanied with a bilingual comic book and a game of dice.

During the past years, Tu has recruited many graduates of the RMIT for his company to make special effects for movies of his company Vinamation. These graduates have made good contributions to the launch of the Van Tich products.

Previously, a group of three design students at RMIT Vietnam who are Nguyen Tu’s students pocketed first prize worth VND70 million for “The Legends” chess collection in 3D printing at Sense of Vietnam, a contest in the framework of Vietnam Creative Festival 2016.
