ChatGPT, which launched in December with one million registrants after one week, has begun catching attention from the public and created intense interest among youth.

ChatGPT can mimic writing, such as compiling a resume, writing a poem and doing home exercises within several seconds. There are over 40 million users of ChatGPT daily.

Google Trends showed that ChatGPT and OpenAI were the most searched keywords over the last three days in Vietnam, while ChatGPT’s website has been at full capacity.

The AI has also become a hot topic of discussions on Facebook. In various communities in all fields, screenshots of discussions with ChatGPT appear frequently.

Huong, a former student, said all of her friends agree that ChatGPT is one of the smartest chatbots they have ever seen.

“What surprises me the most is that the platform can collect information within a short time from many different data sources and give quick answers very close to exact answers,” she said. “ChatGPT also gives answers that even humans still cannot find out."

Huong said she is an active ChatGPT user. She converses with it and consults about problems she faces.

“ChatGPT is just like a friend who entertains me with quick and humorous answers,” she said.

But young people have been divided about ChatGPT. Some say that AI is a danger which may cause serious consequences. For example, it helps students cheat at exams when students have to write essays.

However, Huong doesn’t think this is why people turn their back on ChatGPT.

“It depends on the users' attitudes. Students should consider ChatGPT as a useful tool, not a tool for them to cheat at the exam. If so, ChatGPT won’t become an enemy of the educational sector,” she said.

Nguyen Kim Ngan, 20, a student of the Hanoi Foreign Trade University, told VietNamNet that she found it very interesting to use ChatGPT. “The account registration is a little bit complicated, but in general, ChatGPT is quite interesting and its abilities are beyond my imaginations,” she said.

She added that AI can be used for good purposes, such as coding, predicting business trends.
