VietNamNet Bridge – General Dong Sy Nguyen  stated that he didn’t write the letter that was recently published on some websites.

On December 10, a letter which was said to be written by General Dong Sy Nguyen, former Politburo member, former Deputy Prime Minister and commander of the Truong Son Army Corps was posted on some websites. The letter, which was addressed to Party and State leaders, smears some organizations and officials.

On December 13, General Nguyen sent a letter to the Party, the State, the Government and the National Assembly to deny that he had written the letter and to ask relevant agencies to investigate.

Through VietNamNet, he warned against the acts of imposture on the Internet.

VietNamNet: Some websites have recently published a letter addressed to the country’s leaders and they said that that was your letter. Is that true?

General Dong Sy Nguyen: On December 10, Mrs. Nguyen Thi Binh (former Vice President) called me and said that there was a letter on the Internet that is related to me. She said it was very strange so she called me to inform me directly about it.

The same day, at 3 pm, I received a letter which assumed the name of the Veterans’ Association, including my name, to be sent to the country’s leaders.

I follow strict principles. I have many chances to contribute my opinions to leaders. If it is necessary, I can make my suggestions directly at meetings. I always sign documents and dispatches. The letter that was posted on the Internet didn’t have my signature.

VietNamNet: In your opinion, why did they assume your name in the letter?

General Nguyen: The content of this letter is made-up and untrue. They used my name in this letter for bad purposes.

Perhaps they used my name to make the public think that I wrote the letter to undermine the prestige of the Party, the National Assembly, the Veterans’ Association and some leaders.

What did they make up? They invented contents to offend leaders and deputies of the National Assembly.

VietNamNet: But the National Assembly session finished a long time ago. Why did they post the letter this late?

General Nguyen: They intentionally chose this moment to launch the letter because the National Party Congress is about to take place.

VietNamNet: Have you reported this case to relevant agencies?

General Nguyen: I’ve reported it to Mr. To Huy Rua (Secretary of the Party Central Committee). He promised to deal with this case. I’ve also sent a dispatch to other country’s leaders.

I’ve asked relevant agencies to remove the letter and investigate the case to prevent similar cases from occurring again in future.
