On April 8, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc submitted a list of nominated candidates for the positions of deputy Prime Ministers, Ministers and other Government officials.

Three candidates for the post of Deputy PMs are Truong Hoa Binh (politburo member and former Chief Justice of the Supreme People's Court), Vuong Dinh Hue (Politburo member and Head of the Party Central Committee's Economic Commission) and Trinh Dinh Dung (PCC member and former Minister of Construction).
Other cabinet members on the list:
1. Ngo Xuan Lich, Politburo member, and Chief of the General Department of Politics under the Vietnam People's Army, will hold Minister of Defence post to replace Mr Phung Quang Thanh.
2. To Lam, Politburo members and Deputy Minister of Public Security, will assume Minister of Public Security post to replace Mr Tran Dai Quang.
3. Le Vinh Tan, Deputy Minister of Home Affairs, will be Minister of Home Affairs to replace Mr Nguyen Thai Binh.
4. Le Thanh Long, Deputy Minister of Justice, will hold Minister of Justice post to replace Mr Ha Hung Cuong.
5. Nguyen Chi Dung, Deputy Minister of Planning and Investment, will assume a duty as Minister of Planning and Investment to replace Mr Bui Quang Vinh
6. Tran Tuan Anh, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade, will be Minister of Industry and Trade to replace Mr Vu Huy Hoang.
7. Pham Hong Ha, Deputy Minister of Construction, will hold Minister of Construction position to replace Mr Trinh Dinh Dung.
8. Tran Hong Ha, Deputy Minister of Natural Resources and Environment, will be Minister of Natural Resources and Environment to replace Mr Nguyen Minh Quang.
9. Truong Minh Tuan, Deputy Minister of Information and Communications, will be Minister of Information and Communications to replace Mr Nguyen Bac Son.
10. Nguyen Ngoc Thien, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism, will assume a duty as Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism to replace Hoang Tuan Anh
11. Chu Ngoc Anh, Deputy Minister of Science and Technology, will be Minister of Science and Technology to replace Mr Nguyen Quan.
12. Phung Xuan Nha, President of Hanoi National University, will be Minister of Education and Training to replace Mr Pham Vu Luan.
13. Do Van Chien, Deputy Minister and Vice Chairman of the Government’s Committee for Ethnic Affairs, will be Chairman of the Government’s Committee for Ethnic Affairs to replace Mr Giang Seo Phu.
14. Truong Quang Nghia, Deputy Head of the Party Central Committee's Economic Commission, will be Minister of Transport to replace Mr Dinh La Thang.
15. Dao Ngoc Dung, Secretary of the Party Committee of the bloc, will be Minister of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs.
16. Mai Tien Dung, Secretary of Ha Nam Party Committee, will be Minister and Chairman of Government Office.
17. Mai Van Sau, Deputy Head of the Party Central Committee's Economic Commission, will be Government Inspector General.
18. Le Minh Hung, Deputy Head of the Party Central Committee’s Office and former Governor of the State Bank of Vietnam, will be Governor of the State Bank of Vietnam.
Results of secret ballots will be announced on April 9 before the NA vote to approve a resolution adopting the PM’s proposal on assigning the expected candidates.
