On the afternoon of December 23, General Secretary To Lam met with Australian Ambassador Andrew Goledzinowski as the ambassador prepared to conclude his term in Vietnam.

General Secretary To Lam expressed appreciation for the ambassador’s efforts in strengthening bilateral relations, especially the upgrade of the Vietnam-Australia partnership to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.

General Secretary To Lam congratulated the ambassador on a successful tenure in Vietnam.

He emphasized that Australia remains one of Vietnam’s top foreign policy priorities and a key partner in the region.

Within the framework of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, he underscored the need for both nations to enhance political trust and align their visions on regional and international issues.

The General Secretary also welcomed the active implementation of ministerial-level dialogue mechanisms between the two countries.

On this occasion, General Secretary To Lam extended his gratitude to the Australian government for its support across various fields, including healthcare, participation in United Nations peacekeeping missions, climate change response, and energy transition.

He also acknowledged Australia’s efforts in creating favorable conditions for the Vietnamese community of 350,000 people residing in the country.

Vietnam, he stated, aspires to further strengthen cooperation with Australia for the benefit of both nations and to contribute to peace and stability in the region and the world.

Ambassador Andrew Goledzinowski expressed his gratitude for the meeting, calling it a great honor.

Reflecting on his tenure, he highlighted the substantive progress in Australia-Vietnam relations, which have achieved positive results across multiple sectors.

The ambassador expressed hope for even greater advancements in bilateral ties over the next 50 years, surpassing the achievements of the past five decades.

He also admired the vision of Vietnam’s leadership and the unity of its people, describing the current era as a pivotal moment of growth and transformation for the nation.

Ambassador Goledzinowski affirmed Australia’s desire to contribute more significantly to Vietnam’s development. He highlighted the potential for deeper economic, trade, and investment collaboration within the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.

He added that many Australian businesses are eager to invest in Vietnam’s dynamic and evolving economy.

As he prepares for new assignments, the ambassador pledged to maintain his positive impressions of Vietnam and continue fostering strong bilateral relations.
