My, born in 1999 and recruited in May 2024, is the youngest lecturer at the school.

As her father was a student of the prestigious school, My heard stories about Bach Khoa’s people since her childhood and always considered Bach Khoa as her home. That was why My decided to apply to HUST after she finished high school. 

The girl, majoring in literature at the High School for the Gifted under the Hanoi University of Education, then registered to study English for Science - Engineering and Technology, belonging to HUST.

From the moment she entered the school, My was impressed with the teaching style of the lecturers of the Foreign Language Faculty and began nurturing the dream of becoming a lecturer at the school, standing at the podium and teaching the subjects she was studying.

To gather experience, My began working as a teaching assistant at English centers while studying hard at school to obtain more professional knowledge.

Acknowledging that she is an introvert, My failed to get a scholarship from the school during her four years at the school though her GPA was 4.0/4.0. This was because My did not often participate in extracurricular activities. And she realized that it was time for her to change.

“I dreamed of becoming a lecturer, but I would never become a lecturer if I continued to be introverted and find it difficult to communicate with students,” she said. “Encouraged by teachers, I became more open and participated in more extracurricular activities."

As My understood what she wanted, she began preparing to become a lecturer very early. While writing a graduation thesis, My searched for information about the recruitment criteria of the school. In addition to a master’s degree, candidates also need to have a certificate on second foreign language and capability in scientific research.

After obtaining a bachelor’s degree, My followed a 2-year joint training program for master’s degree holders in English organized by the Hanoi University and Canberra University in Australia. With her good Chinese language skills, she only had to spend three months to obtain HSK4 and HSKK certificates. At the same time, she finished the training program and obtained her master’s degree. 

According to My, being a Gen Z lecturer is a great advantage as she finds it easier to talk and communicate with students. She often begins her lessons with stories about her life when she was a HUST student.
