Three German artists, violinist Hellen Weiss, cellist Gabriel Adriano Schwabe and conductor Alexander Merzyn will perform in a special concert held this Sunday at the HCM City Opera House by the HCM City Ballet Symphony Orchestra and Opera (HBSO) in cooperation with the German Music Council and Conductors Forum.

The concert will feature works by Beethoven and Brahms, conducted by Merzyn, who has been the music director of Kammerphilharmonie Hamburg since 2008.

Weiss and Schwabe will perform Brahms's Double Concerto for violin, cello and orchestra in A Minor op. 102.

Schwabe, 26, has won numerous national and international competitions including the Grand Prix Emanuel Feuermann in 2006, the German Music Council Competition in 2007, and the prestigious Pierre Fournier Award in London in 2009.

The second part of the concert will feature Beethoven's Pastoral Symphony No. 6 in F Major, op. 68, performed by the HBSO Symphony Orchestra.

The German Music Council's goal is to enable every citizen, regardless of social or ethnic background, access to the world of music.
