The majority of the palace has been ruined over the time

Work on the restoration of Phung Tien Palace which is part of Hue Citadel was started on September 29. The project is mainly funded by the German Ministry of Foreign Affairs through the German Embassy in Vietnam, while the rest is from the city’s reciprocal capital.

The project will be carried out by workers from the Central Monument Restoration JS Company and German preservationist Andrea Tuefel.

Phan Thanh Hai, director of Hue Historical Preservation Centre, said that Phung Tien is among the Nguyen Dynasty’s five most important palaces.

It was built under the dynasty of Minh Mang King in the 19th century. It was the place to worship the Nguyen Dynasty kings and their wives.

The majority of the palace has been ruined over the time, except for some parts such as the foundation, gates and some stonework.

Earlier, Germany also helped Hue City to restore Toi Linh Tu, High Celestial Temple in Hue Citadel.
