At least 114 J’rai ethnic people in the Central Highland province of Gia Lai on September 16 were hospitalised after eating food served during a memorial service.

The Chu Se district health centre reports the victims suffered stomach constipation, dizziness and vomiting.

Local officials disclosed the initial investigation revealed all of the victims were served meals at a memorial in the Chu Pong commune, Chu Se district.

The specific cause of the food poisoning is currently under investigation, according to Gia Lai provincial Department for Food Hygiene and Safety head Nguyen Van Dang.
