VietNamNet Bridge - On October 30, Ms. Hoang Thi Phuong, Deputy Chief of the Gia Lai province Anti-Corruption Steering Committee’s Office was discovered dead in a hanging position in front of her bedroom.

The incident was detected at 7pm on October 30 by Phuong’s son, who just returned home. Phuong’s house is located on Pham Van Dong Street, Pleiku City, Gia Lai Province.

Being informed of the case, Gia Lai’s police searched the scene and conducted an autopsy, which verifies that Phuong was suffocated by hanging.

Phuong is former Vice Chair of Chu Pah District People's Council. In 2009, she was transferred to the Anti-Corruption Steering Committee and served as deputy chief of staff.

According to Phuong’s neighbors, she had an exemplary lifestyle. In 2008, her husband died of illness. Since then, she raised two sons alone. The first son has recently graduated from a college in HCM City, while the second son is a university student, also in HCM City.

Immediately after the incident, the police also checked Phuong’s office but they did not detect any suspicious signs. In her motorcycle boot, police found some certificates of debt but the debts are small.

According to the victim's colleagues, Phuong looked sad for a week before her suicide. On October 30, before she died, Phuong still worked normally, but she looked sad and was quiet than usual.

The cause of death of this woman is still unknown. Gia Lai police are continuing investigation.
