VietNamNet Bridge – A man in Binh Dinh province has caught a giant butterfly in his garden. The insect is 13 cmlong and has a wingspan of 24 cm.

Curious crowds are flocking to the house of Tran Van Danh, located in Hoai Nhon District, to see the special butterfly.
Many people have asked Danh to sell it but he refused.
Some scientists said that this is an Attacus Atlas butterfly, belonging to Saturniidae family. This is the largest butterfly species in the world, with wingspans of 25-30 cm, and is incredibly rare. It is listed as endangered species in Vietnam.
The Attacus Atlas butterfly can be found in Vietnam, China, India and some other Southeast Asian countries.
A similar butterfly with wing span of 24cm was caught in the central province of Binh Thuan in June 2010.
