On the evening of August 20, during the Dong Nai Culinary Festival 2025, the Vietnam Records Organization (VietKings) announced the official recognition of the “largest cashew fried sticky rice in Vietnam.”

According to the Dong Nai Chefs Association, the dish was prepared by a team of chefs using glutinous rice, cashew nuts, sugar, and other ingredients. After deep-frying, the sticky rice forms a crispy golden shell while maintaining its soft, fragrant interior, complemented by the rich, nutty flavor of the cashews.

Nguyen Van Thinh, Chairman of the Dong Nai Chefs Association, stated that the record-setting sticky rice cake measured 68 centimeters in diameter and 39 centimeters in height. He emphasized that the achievement reflects not only the team’s effort to create a dish showcasing the local culinary identity but also a strategy to promote Dong Nai’s signature cashew nuts, one of the country’s largest cashew-growing and processing regions.

At the ceremony, Nguyen Thi Quynh Ngoc, Deputy Director of the Vietnam Records Institute and Secretary General of the Vietnam Records Organization, highlighted that the record was remarkable not just in size but also in its creative fusion of Dong Nai’s traditional cuisine with Binh Phuoc’s specialty cashews. She remarked, “The dish is appealing in both appearance and flavor. It symbolizes the cultural exchange, unity, and the new spirit of Dong Nai following recent administrative mergers.”

She added that the recognition is not merely a technical milestone but a bold statement of creativity, hometown pride, and the province’s ambition to grow while preserving cultural heritage.

Ngoc also praised the organizers’ meaningful concept, thorough preparation, and the talent and finesse of the chefs, artisans, and culinary experts involved. Their collective effort led to the successful creation of the “largest cashew fried sticky rice in Vietnam.”
