VietNamNet Bridge - In Vietnam, some people own giant King cobras which may be the world's largest, even larger than its normal length, which can be up to 5m. King cobra is the longest snake species and typically weighs 6-7kg.

A man in Tuyen Quang province is reported to have a special snake alcohol jar with a giant King cobra of 23kg in weight, 7m long. The man bought the snake from a wild animal trader for VND100 million ($5,000). He tried to breed it but it died. The man then put the snake in an alcohol jar of 1.4m long, 0.5m wide, with 1,000 liters of wine.

He said he kept this giant snake to prove to the world that Vietnam has the world’s biggest King cobra.

A woman in northern Vietnam also owns a giant King cobra of 21kg, 7m long. The snake is in a big wine jar. She bought the snake from ethnic minority people in 2011 for 1 tael of goal (about $1,500).

In the south, some people have giant snakes of up to 20kg from the forest of U Minh, Ca Mau province.

An elderly woman in U Minh Ha said they had never seen giant snakes weighing 200kg.
