VietNamNet Bridge - The thermometer of 1.16 m long, 0.31 m wide, is said to be the treasure of the elite in the resort city of Da Lat (Lam Dong Province) in the 40s.
Mr. Nguyen Dang Thanh and the giant thermometer.
Mr. Nguyen Dang Thanh, 70, an antique collector in Da Lat, has just found that giant thermometer.
The thermometer is made of iron, enameled and still works well. The column of mercury measures temperature very accurately.
According to Thanh, this thermometer appeared in Da Lat in the 1940s and it may belong to a rich man of that time. Most likely it is a souvenir and advertising product because there is the logo of a famous wine brand of Italia in the front.
Vietnamese antique collectors said that this may be the only ancient thermometer remained in Vietnam.
