The Thong Nhat Hospital in HCM City on February 19 announced to have saved the life of a 58-years-old man with a giant lung tumor.

According to doctors, the patient was admitted to the hospital with chest pain and shortness of breath.

Through visual inspection and biopsy, doctors discovered a big tumor with many small buboes in his left lung. The tumor and buboes invaded the thoracic aorta, causing the risk of death.

A surgery was carried out and the doctors removed a big tumor from the left lung, which is as big as a grapefruit, weighing about 300grams, 20cm in length, 10cm in diameter.

The patient is gradually recovering.

According to the patient’s family, the man has been smoking for more than 20 years. After a party, he suffered from chest pain and shortness of breath so he was brought to the hospital.

After over two weeks of intensive care, he was healthy enough for the surgery.
