At around 9 p.m. on June 12, users were unable to access Meta services through either desktop browsers or mobile applications. Platforms including Facebook, Messenger and Instagram failed to load or display content.

The disruption appeared to extend beyond Vietnam, with reports also emerging from regions including the United Kingdom and the United States. Meta's status page did not indicate any issues at the time, and the US technology company had not issued an official statement.

Meta's ecosystem of applications has experienced several major service disruptions in recent years.

In March 2024, Facebook, Instagram, Messenger and Threads all went offline for more than two hours. Online outage tracking platform Down Detector recorded a peak of more than 550,000 user reports during the incident.

In December 2024, a similar connectivity failure occurred during the early hours of the morning, disrupting communications for millions of accounts worldwide. More than 100,000 outage reports were submitted within the first 30 minutes alone.

In both previous incidents, Meta representatives stated that the root causes were internal technical issues. The company emphasized that the outages were unrelated to one another and were not linked to any form of external cyberattack.
