The VFF yesterday (May 4) reviewed records and said the Becamex Binh Duong striker did not score the goal, but it was an own goal by midfielder Vu Ngoc Thinh of Hai Phong.

Earlier, referees and the match supervisor agreed that a goal scored in the 10th second of the match between Binh Duong and Hai Phong on April 27 belonged to Vinh and the striker later acknowledged his goal.

The goal made headlines the next morning and reports said it was believed to be one of the world's top 10 fastest goals in football.

VFF yesterday said Vinh tried to reach the ball but did not kick it. Midfielder Thinh was the last person to touch the ball.

Thinh has agreed with VFF decision. He said the game had just begun, and he was yet to find his rhythm. In trying to stave off a serious threat from Vinh, who was closer to the ball, he had scored an own-goal, Thinh said.
