V-League team Xuan Thanh Sai Gon (XTSG) have fired goalkeeper Bui Tan Truong.
XTSG chairman Nguyen Xuan Thuy said Truong, who used to be the national team's goalkeeper, played poorly during the past several games and no longer had the professional skills required by the club.
"Truong made unacceptable mistakes recently," he said. "For that reason, the club managers have decided to end his contract ahead of time but will help him find a new team."
The decision was made after XTSG's 1-3 defeat to KienlongBank Kien Giang at a V-League match on August 10.
Making his debut at Dong Thap at the age of 13, Truong played very well and became a national youth team member four years later. The 27-year-old was then called to the national team in 2009 and was one of the country's biggest transfers (at US$428,000) when he moved from Dong Thap to XTSG two years ago. His contract with XTSG would have expired next year.
Truong said Dong Thap and Binh Duong had contacted him about a possible position, but he had not made a final decision yet.
