In a dispatch on July 13, Deputy Prime Minister Le Van Thanh asked local authorities to review their construction plans and projects to reclaim land or cancel projects that have long been delayed, have expired, or have turned unfeasible.

The Ministry of Construction was asked to work with other relevant ministries, agencies and provincial and municipal governments to speed up inspections into these projects and step up the revocation of land from long-stalled projects.

Many cities and provinces have started reviewing projects and made a list of long-delayed ones.

Dong Nai Province has revoked tens of large projects in Nhon Trach District, including 16 residential and infrastructure projects.

Thanh Hoa Province has pinpointed 164 long-delayed projects. Among them, the province has decided to take back a total of 89.9 hectares of land from 21 projects.

Over the past week, a wave of land revocations has happened in several other provinces such as Kon Tum, Vinh Phuc, Quang Ngai and Quang Tri.

A total of over 3,080 long-stalled projects, with a total area of 80,450 hectares, have been detected in 48 cities and provinces.
