President Truong Tan Sang has extended condolences to his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin over heavy human and material losses caused by floods in southern Russia and a bus crash in Ukraine.

Also the same day, at least 14 Russians were killed and tens of others injured in a bus crash on the Kiev-Chernigov route, Ukraine.
On behalf of the Vietnamese Government, Deputy Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son on July 9 mourned and wrote on the mourning book at the Russian Embassy in Hanoi.
Vietnam, Chile boost parliamentary cooperation
A delegation from the Vietnamese National Assembly (NA) led by NA Vice Chairman Uong Chu Luu visited Chile on July 3-5 to foster ties between the two legislative bodies.
This was the first high-ranking NA delegation to visit Chile since the two countries established diplomatic ties in 1971.
During his time in Chile, NA Vice Chairman Luu met with the Chilean Senate Chairman Medina; Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies Nicolas M.Diaz; Minister of Foreign Affairs Alfredo Moreno Charme; and Minister of Justice Teodoro Ribera; as well as President of the Chile-Vietnam Parliamentary Friendship Group Claudia Fernandez; President of the Chile-Vietnam Culture Institute Patricia Abarzua; and Chilean lawyer Gaston Gomez, among others.
The Chilean leaders and partners expressed their admiration for Vietnam and spoke highly of the bilateral ties of solidarity and traditional friendship established by late President Allende and late President Ho Chi Minh.
The two sides agreed to boost economic and trade cooperation and raise two-way trade turnover to US$10 billion in the next 10 years as suggested by Chilean President Sebastian Pinera during his visit to Vietnam in March.
They highlighted fine development of relations between the two parliaments and emphasized the role parliaments play in implementing signed agreements as well as in sharing experiences regarding constitutions, legislation, execution and other relevant fields.
Chile is willing to act as a bridge for Vietnamese products to penetrate the Latin American market and Vietnam offered to be a gateway for Chile to expand its markets in Southeast Asia.
NA Vice Chairman Luu praised Chile’s economic achievements which have helped raise its position in Latin America and also conveyed an invitation to visit Vietnam from NA Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung to Speaker of the Chilean Chamber of Deputies Nicolas Diaz.
Vietnam, Cambodia enhance transport cooperation
The close cooperation between the Vietnamese Ministry of Transport and the Cambodian Ministry of Public Works and Transport has made a positive contribution to the two countries’ friendship, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc has said.
Receiving Cambodian Minister of Public Works and Transport Tram Iv Tek, Deputy PM Phuc proposed that the two ministries further enhance their cooperation in all fields, especially in developing transport infrastructure and connectivity between the two countries to facilitate trade and travel with the aim of boosting investment in both countries.
The Vietnamese government will create favorable conditions for the two ministries to increase their cooperative relationship, making it broader ranging and more effective, Phuc affirmed.
Minister Tram Iv Tek informed his host of the results of his talks with Vietnamese Minister of Transport Ho Nghia Dung.
Accordingly, the two ministers affirmed cooperation between Vietnam and Cambodia in the transport sector was consolidated and strengthened in all fields, including road way, railway, waterway and airway, thus improving connectivity to improve trade, investment and services between the two neighbouring countries.
Minister Tram Iv Tek said his ministry will cooperate closely with the Vietnamese Ministry of Transport to implement joint cooperative agreements between them, especially those on linking Vietnam and Cambodia via road and railway.
VN, Chile legislative bodies seek to enhance ties
Vietnam and Chile’s legislative bodies have agreed to step up bilateral cooperation, especially in legislation and supervision, to consolidate their traditional friendship and foster cooperation between the two countries in the future.
The agreement was reached during the first ever visit to Chile by a high-ranking Vietnamese National Assembly delegation which was led by Deputy Chairman Uong Chu Luu from July 3-5.
During his stay, Luu held talks with Chilean Senate President Camilo Escalona Medina, the President of House of Representatives Nicolas M.Diaz; Foreign Minister Alfredo Moreno and Minister of Justice Teodoro Ribera Neuman.
Both sides pledged to promote economic and trade ties, to raise two-way trade to 10 billion USD in the next 10 years, as mentioned by Chilean President Sebastian Pinera during his visit to Vietnam in March.
Chile is willing to serve as a bridge to help Vietnamese goods enter the Latin American market. They also proposed that Vietnam acts as a gateway to help the country to expand its markets in Southeast Asia.
The Vietnamese delegation also heard an introduction on Chile ’s legal system, its experience in legislation and supervision, the roles its judicial and executive systems play and the State and local authorities.
On the occasion, Luu conveyed NA Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung’s invitation to the President of the Chilean House of
Representatives to visit Vietnam in the future.
