Vietnam-Laos friendship exchange in China
The Vietnamese and Lao embassies held a friendship exchange in Beijing, China on September 8 to mark the 50th anniversary of diplomatic ties.

On this occasion, the two ambassadors, Nguyen Van Tho and Somdy Boomkham, affirmed that the special relations of friendship and comprehensive cooperation established by late President Ho Chi Minh and late President Kaysone Phomvihane have become a model of loyal, pure, and long-lasting relationship and valuable asset for generations of both countries.
They agreed that the exchange provided a good chance for both sides to review the traditional relationship and strengthen mutual understanding between the two embassies’ staff and the two countries’ people.
Over the years, the two embassies in China have often organized many exchanges and joint activities, especially during major festivals of the two nations.
Viet Nam, Laos celebrate 30 years of judicial co-operation
The Ministries of Justice of Viet Nam and Laos jointly held a ceremony to mark the 30th anniversary of their co-operation in central Quang Binh Province last Friday.
Speaking at the event, Vietnamese Minister of Justice Ha Hung Cuong said that in recent years, co-operation in various fields such as politics, economics, military, diplomacy, science and technology has developed along with legal and judicial co-operation between the two countries. Results have been highly encouraging for both nations.
Lao Minister of Justice Chalon Nhiapaoho expressed his belief that the judicial co-operation between Viet Nam and Laos will contribute to legal and judicial reforms in each country as well as to the special friendship and solidarity between the two nations.
Minister offers condolences to victims of China earthquakes
Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh sent a message of condolences to his Chinese counterpart Yang Jiechi yesterday about the recent earthquakes in China, which caused serious losses in both life and property.
At least 80 people were killed when two shallow quakes hit the border of south-western Yunnan and Guizhou provinces last Friday.
Vietnam, Singapore lift up ties
The relationship between Vietnam and Singapore has significantly developed in various fields, practically assisting the development of both countries.
Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung made the statement at a reception for newly-appointed Singaporean Ambassador Ng Teck Hean in Hanoi on September 7.
Mr Dung said Vietnam and Singapore should continue to exert efforts to lift bilateral ties to a new height for the sake of both peoples and the building of a stable and prosperous ASEAN Community, thus contributing to peace, stability, cooperation and development in the region and the rest of the world.
He said he hopes that the new ambassador will make positive contributions to promoting cooperation between the two countries in all fields, especially economics, trade, investment and tourism.
PM Dung asked the two sides to closely cooperate in building a united and firm ASEAN community that plays a central role in boosting cooperation with the partners and maintains the common stance on regional and international issues of mutual concern, including the East Sea issues.
He expressed the hope that Singapore will support Vietnam in the Trans-Pacific Partnership negotiations.
Ambassador Ng Teck Hean thanked the Vietnamese Government, ministries, sectors and localities for supporting and creating favourable conditions for Singaporean businesses to operate in Vietnam.
Regarding the East Sea issues, the diplomat affirmed his county’s consistent stance of supporting the settlement of all issues related to the East Sea through peaceful negotiations and on the basis of respect for the international law.
Poland, Vietnam strengthen party relations
Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong on September 7 received a visiting delegation from the Democratic Left Alliance (SLD) Party of Poland led by its leader Leszek Miller.
Miller, who is also a former Prime Minister, briefed his host of the situation in Poland as well as the operation of the SLD Party in the recent years.
The Polish party leader said he hopes the two parties will further strengthen the exchange of information and experience, as well as promoting coordination and cooperation at multilateral political forums, thus boosting the traditional friendship and cooperation between the two countries.
Mr Trong affirmed that the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) always treasures the traditional relations and cooperation with the SLD Party.
He expressed his belief that the sound relations between the two parties will positively contribute to the consolidation and development of the traditional friendship and cooperation between the two nations and peoples.
Earlier, a memorandum of understanding on cooperation between the two parties was signed.
Get-together marks DPRK’s 64th founding anniversary
The Vietnam Union of Friendship Organisations and the Vietnam-DPRK Friendship Association co-organised a get-together in Hanoi on September 7 to mark the 64 th founding anniversary of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK).
Speaking at the event, President of the Vietnam-DPRK Friendship Association Pham Tat Dong reviewed the traditional friendship and cooperation between Vietnam and the DPRK.
Friendship and cooperation activities between the two peoples over the past time have helped tighten the Vietnam-DPRK ties, he said.
DPRK Ambassador to Vietnam Kim Chang-Il affirmed that the firm position and will of the Workers’ Party and Government of the DPRK is to consolidate and develop the traditional friendship and cooperation with Vietnam.
