Vietnam’s delegation to visit Cambodia

Vietnam’s high-ranking delegation, led by Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung and his wife, will pay an official visit to Cambodia on November 15.

The delegation is visiting at the invitation of Cambodia Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen.

Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung will participate in the Mekong sub-region high-level conference in Cambodia on November 16.

Vietnam, Austria strengthen cooperation

Vietnamese Deputy Prime Minister Truong Vinh Trong received an Austrian delegation, led by Walter Nettig, Member of Vienna Cabinet and Special Representative for External Economic Affairs, during his working visit to the country on November 10.

Mr Trong expressed his gratitude for the great help of the Austrian people during Vietnam’s resistance wars for national independence and unification.

He proposed that both sides will work together on organising practical events to mark the 40th anniversary of Vietnam-Austria diplomatic ties and expressed his hope that the two countries will strengthen the exchange of goods and share experiences in the fields of medical, education, urban planning and infrastructure.

Vietnam and Austria should also promote information to help businessmen and others to understand more about the two nation’s strengths and potential to further cooperate for mutual benefits, he added.

Mr Nettig showed his optimism for the future of the cooperation between the two countries in general and Hanoi and Vienna in particular.

He also introduced the important geopolitical position of Vienna, a capital city at the heart of Europe and pledged to contribute to developing bilateral relations.

PM Dung joins Vietnam-Korea economic talks

Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung and his delegation attended round-table discussions on the Vietnam- Korea economic cooperation in Seoul on November 11 on the sidelines of the G20 Summit.

In his speech, PM Dung said along with the effective use of domestic resources, Vietnam is focused on accelerating its international economic integration by attracting capital inflows, applying new technologies and advanced management skills and expanding the market.

He praised Korean businesses’ potential and technology and called them to expand their investment in Vietnam, particularly in socio-economic infrastructure, new energy, high-technology, supporting industry, human resources development, healthcare, agriculture and forestry and seafood processing.

The Vietnamese Government will create the best possible conditions for foreign businesses, including Korean ones to run long-term business in Vietnam thus benefiting both sides, Mr Dung said.

PM Dung relied directly many questions raised by Korean economic organisations and businesses and witnessed the signing of agreements and memorandums of understanding on thermal-power and gas projects between Vietnamese businesses and Korean groups.

Italian Ambassador presented with friendship order

The Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs presented Italian Ambassador to Vietnam, Andrea Perugini, with the friendship order on November 10 for his contribution to strengthening the traditional friendship ties between the two countries.

Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Nguyen Quoc Cuong, praised Mr Perugini’s efforts to boost multifaceted co-operation between Vietnam and Italy in his tenure. “Presenting the friendship order to Mr Perugini demonstrates not only the Vietnamese Government’s sentiment, but also that of the people for the ambassador and the Italian people.

Ambassador Perugini thanked Vietnam for the country’s support in helping him fulfill his tasks and affirmed that the noble award is not only for himself but also for the Italian embassy. He said he was very happy to contribute to Vietnam’s success in its ASEAN presidency year and the grand ceremony of the 1,000th anniversary of Thang Long-Hanoi, as well as enhance co-operation in many fields between the two countries.

Vietnam-Laos promote comprehensive cooperation

State President Nguyen Minh Triet received Phongsavath Boupha, Head of the Lao Presidential Office, in Hanoi on November 11.

Mr Triet said Mr Boupha’s visit contributed greatly to promoting the traditional friendship and comprehensive cooperation between the two countries.

He expressed his hope that both Presidential Offices will continue to exchange visits and experience as well as support each other to further serve the two nations’ leaders.

Mr Boupha briefed Mr Triet about his meeting with the Head of the Vietnamese Presidential Office, Nguyen Van Chien.

The two sides agreed on joint activities in the coming time to achieve the highest effective results for the two offices.
