New ambassadors welcomed

National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Phu Trong received the Ambassadors of Bulgaria and Italy, Geogri Vassilev and Andrea Perugini, yesterday, Nov 11, in Ha Noi as they prepare to complete their terms in Viet Nam.

Chairman Trong affirmed that Viet Nam always attached importance to the development of relations with traditional friends, including Bulgaria, and the promotion of mutually beneficial co-operative ties with developed industrialised countries like Italy.

He said he hoped the ambassadors would continue making contributions to promoting friendly and co-operatives ties with Viet Nam in any future position.

Ambassadors Vassilev and Perugini said that fine political relations were a foundation to further promote bilateral co-operation in economics, trade, investment, science and technology, education and travel.

They pledged that in the near future they would continue to contribute to boosting multifaceted co-operation with Viet Nam to match the potential and strengths of each side.

Japan ambassador begins term

Politburo member and standing member of the Secretariat of the Party Central Committee Truong Tan Sang yesterday, Nov 11, received Japanese Ambassador to Viet Nam Yasuaki Tanizaki on the occasion of his new term of office in the country.

Sang affirmed that Viet Nam always attached importance to the development of friendly and co-operative ties with Japan. He expressed his pleasure at the growing bilateral relations, from politics, economics and culture to security and defence, and called for deep, effective and sustainable development of the strategic partnership between the two countries for peace and prosperity in Asia.

Sang also expressed thanks for the positive and effective assistance the Japanese government had provided to Viet Nam, especially Official Development Assistance (ODA) provisions, which had made important contributions to socio-economic development, infrastructure construction, hunger eradication and poverty reduction in Viet Nam.

Ambassador Tanizaki affirmed that he would do his utmost to further strengthen the traditional co-operative ties between the two countries, and added that the Japanese government and people greatly appreciated the development of friendly and strategic co-operative ties with Viet Nam, which contributed to developing deep and sustainable bilateral relations.

Party delegation returns

A Communist Party of Viet Nam (CPV) delegation, led by To Huy Rua, a politburo member and Secretary of the CPV Central Committee, returned yesterday, Nov 11, from a six-day visit to Japan at the invitation of the Japanese Communist Party (JCP).

The delegation was received by JCP President Kazuo Shii and held a discussion on socialism theories with the JCP.

During the meeting, Rua highlighted the JCP's achievements in ideology and theory as well as in mass mobilisation to intensify the struggle for peace, democracy and social progress in line with the JCP's platform and policies.
