Vietnam attends ASEAN air chiefs conference

A Vietnamese delegation led by Lieutenant General Phuong Minh Hoa, Chief of Vietnam’s Air Defence and Air Force, is attending the ninth ASEAN Air Chiefs Conference (AACC) which takes place in Malaysia ’s capital city of Kuala Lumpur from Sept 10-13.

Themed “Strengthening Security Cooperation of ASEAN Air Forces towards ASEAN Community 2015: Education and Training”, the event aims to reinforce the relations between ASEAN member countries, fostering peace and security in the region and cooperation in fields of education and training between the countries’ air forces.

The participants agreed to establish an exchange programme, allowing young pilots to participate in training courses in other countries in the region.

Speaking at the conference, Lieutenant General Hoa stressed that the cooperation on education and training plays a core role for a more effective cooperation between regional air forces, contributing to successfully building the ASEAN Community by 2015.

He said Vietnam’s Air Defence and Air Force is willing to work with other regional air forces to strengthen ties in education and training, information and experiences sharing on flight safety, search and rescue activities to protect the region’s peace, stability and development.

Laos Defence Ministry delegation visits Vietnam

Vietnam’s Defence Ministry will create favourable conditions for the offices of the two countries’ defence ministries to increase the exchange of delegations, experience sharing and professional training.

Sen. Lieut. Gen. Le Huy Duc, Deputy Minister of Defence, made the remark while receiving Major-General Onsi Sensuc, Chief of the Office of the Lao Defence Ministry, in Hanoi on September 11.

At the reception, the Lao guest informed the host about the results of his working session with a delegation from the Office of Vietnam’s Defence Ministry.

He thanked the Vietnamese side’s assistance for his office over the past time, especially in the fields of data security, investment in equipment and staff training.

Vietnam, India strengthen defence cooperation


The armies of Vietnam and India should closely cooperate in the field of defence industry, information technology and personnel training.

This was emphasized by Senior lieutenant-general Nguyen Chi Vinh, Deputy Minister of National Defence and Indian Ambassador Ranjit Rae at a meeting in Hanoi on September 11.

The meeting was in preparation for the 7th Vietnam-India Strategic Defence Dialogue which will focus on promoting strategic cooperation in defence, army medicine, search and rescue and personnel training.

On the occasion, the Indian Ambassador conveyed the Indian Defence Minister’s invitation to Vietnamese counterpart, Phung Quang Thanh to visit India at an appropriate time.

Quang Tri, Laos’ Savanakhet review border work

Vietnam’s central province of Quang Tri and the Lao province of Savanakhet on September 11 reviewed the implementation of the 2011 memorandum of understanding on their border work.

The talks on border and land marker planting work in Dong Ha city, Quang Tri province were attended by Deputy Chairman of Quang Tri provincial People’s Committee Nguyen Quan Chinh and Deputy Governor of Savanakhet province Khamphoi Thachon.

Both sides have closely worked to conduct joint patrols, prevent and deal with violations of border regulations, as well as fight crimes.

Regarding border marker planting, the two sides completed 31 out of 35 markers.

At the talks, both sides agreed to strengthen exchanges, friendship and promote traditional ties between the two provinces and people along the common border line.

They will propose their concerned central and local agencies to create favourable conditions for businesses and passengers in fulfilling procedures to cross the border. They also agreed to invest in upgrading transport systems and building infrastructure at border gate areas, increase education for local people to raise their awareness on border marker system, maintain political stability, and protect the common border line.
