Lao officials join Party organisation course

The Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics and Public Administration on September 12 opened a training course on organisational work for 17 key leaders and officials of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party (LLRP), in Hanoi.

During the three-month course, the trainees will learn the fundamentals of Marxism-Leninism, Ho Chi Minh thought, and the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV)’s viewpoint and policy on the path to socialism.

The participants will study Vietnam’s revolutionary experience and lessons in the socio-economic field, along with Party building, organisational and inspection work during the past 25 years of renewal in Vietnam.

They will also go on a fact-finding tour to localities nationwide, to witness some of the initial achievements and challenges during the renewal phase under the leadership of the CPV.

Vietnam attaches importance to strengthening ties with China

The Vietnamese Party and State always attach great importance to developing friendly neighbourliness and comprehensive cooperation with China.

Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh made this affirmation at a reception for newly-appointed Chinese Ambassador to Vietnam Kong Xuanyou on September 12, saying that the Ministry for Foreign Affairs will create favourable conditions for the Ambassador to fulfill his task in the country.

Kong expressed his hope that he will receive strong support from the leaders as well as ministries, sectors and localities of the country, including the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Kong affirmed that in his position of ambassador, he will exert his best efforts to promote the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership between the two countries, to provide mutual benefits to both countries and contribute to maintaining peace, stability and prosperity in the region.

Vietnam, Irish parliaments seek stronger links

Ireland and Vietnam should exchange high-ranking delegations, share experiences in legislative work, establish a parliamentary friendship group and develop cultural and trade relations.

The statement was made by Chairman of the Irish National Parliament Joint Committee on Foreign Affairs and Trade, Pat Breen, at a reception in Hanoi on September 12 by Vice Chairwoman of the National Assembly Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan.

Breen, who is on a five-day working visit to Vietnam beginning on September 12, said the Irish Government will continue to effectively implement assistance projects in Vietnam , in hunger eradication and poverty reduction, education and unexploded ordnance clearance.

Vice NA Chairwoman Ngan thanked the Irish Government for its official development assistance (ODA) capital in national construction and development.

The two sides should promote exchanges between the two countries’ MPs, with a view to consolidating and enhancing mutual understanding and trust, as well as multifaceted and bilateral cooperation, she said.

The NA leader added that both sides should increase investment and trade to match the two countries’ potential.

Cao Dai followers celebrate sect’s grand ritual

More than 100,000 Cao Dai followers and visitors flocked to Tay Ninh Church in the southern province of Tay Ninh on September 12 for the sect’s grand ritual, Hoi Yen Dieu Tri Cung.

Hoi Yen Dieu Tri Cung is a great annual banquet where trays of fruit and food are offered to the Great Mother to pray for favourable weather, a peaceful and prosperous country and a happy people.

Addressing the event, Monsignor Thuong Tam Thanh, Chief of the Cao Dai Tay Ninh Church Executive Council, thanked the Party and State for providing favourable conditions for Cao Dai followers to practise their faith.

He called on Cao Dai dignitaries and followers to enthusiastically participate in poverty reduction programmes, charitable and social activities, and environmental protection campaigns while building a healthy cultural lifestyle in the residential areas.

He urged the followers to practise faith in line with both the religion’s rules and the country’s laws under the motto “serving both religion and society well”.
